Planning on purchasing a necklace and confused by the wide range? Not to worry. Here is a guide to different styles of chains that should help you find just the right one for you.

Box Chain:

It is made from round wire which is rolled flat and then folded into square links that form open boxes or cubes. This gives a sturdy, yet classically smooth, sleek and uniform appearance. This chain will look great with a pendant hanging from it.

Curb Chain:

A curb chain is when the links interlock with each other when laid flat. Most open-link curb chains can only be distinguished by this method. This style of chain has the greatest variety of widths available, from a few millimetres to over two centimetres. With large, substantial links, curb chains are an excellent choice for men's jewellery. Women's curb chains are typically slimmer and have curving shapes instead of flat planes and bevelled corners.

Cable Chain:

This is the most common type of jewellery chain and is a much reduced version of the large chains used on board ships. It is formed of individual oval or round links interlocked in a uniform pattern, with each link lying at ninety degrees to the next. Each section of a cable chain is identical throughout, giving it a simple but classic look.

A single row chain:

The channel of black beads forms a single row chain. These are mostly used in mangalsutra.

Double row chains:

The two channels of black beads form the double line chain. These are mostly used for mangalsutras.
